NORTH SEA SURFERS

Meet the people who brave the freezing depths to catch the perfect wave. This community in Pease Bay not only surf the north sea, but make their own surfboards by hand.

Who cares if it’s raining in the water?

Living by the North Sea means the weather is often grey and the sea isn't far off, but this group of surfers wouldn't have it any other way. Heading out into the surf, with the rain pouring around them, they believe all it takes is one good wave, and you’re in. No matter where in the world surfing has taken them, coming back to these waters is where their hearts lie. Members of the group even make their own boards – a task that takes skill, patience and passion.

I travelled all over the world for surfing, but nothing quite beats home
